Kyle Turner expected his first job as an athletic therapist to be a professional milestone. Instead, he skids into Middle Jump, Alberta, where the Buffalos are in freefall. From meltdowns on the radio to the shambolic antics of the coaching staff, his first season is a crash course in prairie survival. As the budget thins and winter finally retreats, Kyle discovers Canada’s unvarnished soul in the chaos of the characters around him.

Merry Hours Wasted is a sharp-witted comedy of errors that celebrates the game that breaks our hearts and the people who make it worth the trouble. It’s a story of frozen bus rides, frayed nostalgia, and the thin line between passion and lunacy.

What fools these mortals be.
